Me and Nea Landin will show Mobilized again in Stockholm, at the event Body of Work. This time in a gallery context. Here is the invitation to the event:
Haptics, sensors, and other new technologies are enabling art where your body becomes the material for the work. When touch becomes the site of the artwork, it can’t be photographed or recorded. It exists only in your body. Contemporary art is primarily focused on vision and sound, leaving out the somatic. Touch is complex to work with. There is little terminology, few shared references, and no defined frameworks. How do we exhibit it? How do we fund it? What responsibility do we have as artists when we work with the bodies of our audience?
This event is part workshop, part exhibition, part laboratory, bringing together artists in Sweden who are defining this field to discuss its challenges and contradictions. And most importantly, to get a feel for what it is.
The event takes place at Helix Art Space, June 2 – 5. All invited.
Mobilized is shown on the opening night, June 2nd, 19.00.
I will also be in conversation with Lundahl & Seitl and Olle Bjerkås in a panel on Friday the 5th, 17.00 under the title Working with the audience’s bodies as material. Info on the panel.
Event by Karo Hall (Karolina Hallencreutz) and Jakob Skote.
